Numbers Blockchain is the archive and library of committed media history of Web3 assets.
It provides the cost-effective and environmentally friendly option to commit the full history of Web3 assets.
It is the default blockchain choice of ecosystem applications built with Numbers Protocol.
Numbers Mainnet is built with Avalanche Subnet technology
Prior to the launch of Mainnet, Numbers Protocol leveraged IOTA and Avalanche C-chain to archive digital media content. Though effective in making digital media information accessible and verifiable the limitations from the user perspective were apparent.
Numbers Blockchain provides a cost-effective and environmentally friendly option to commit the full history of Web3 assets. It unlocks Numbers Protocol and enables it to support the entire lifecycle of the modern digital asset.
Numbers Blockchain is a Layer 1 blockchain supported by Avalanche Subnet that defines its own networking as well as its own execution logic and fee structure. It is also the archive and library of committed media history of web3 assets.
It changes digital assets from untraceable and unverifiable entities into standalone entities capable of “speaking” for themselves through accessible and transparent records. This is achieved by generating a unique identity of the digital media, called Numbers ID (Nid). This Nid is also known as the content ID or CID in the Filecoin/IPFS ecosystem which represents the Web3 address of the digital media files on the decentralized web.
Key information such as on-creation metadata (location, timestamp, other data regarding creation circumstances), creator information, asset changelogs and licenses are stored onto the blockchain and binded to the Nid to assure the integrity of the digital media. By storing an asset's media history onto the blockchain, it is made transparent, immutable and verifiable.
As an asset-centric blockchain, Numbers Blockchain strives to support the entire lifecycle of the modern digital asset with additional smart contract support for asset monetization, NFT minting, royalty distribution and more. It plays an important role in facilitating Numbers Protocol’s core functionality. It also allows for native transactions of NUM, the official token of the Numbers Protocol network.
There are three main contracts built on top of Numbers Blockchain, including but not limited to:
Commit contract
Asset contract
Collection contract
